Piaget’s Swinging Pebbles begin with the shape of a stone held in the hand. Their rounded, asymmetrical cases have the smoothness of a small found object, but a dial sits within each surface. Suspended from long, twisted gold chains, these pendant watches bring an unusually tactile quality to the act of telling time.

Presented at Watches and Wonders 2026, the collection comprises three interpretations. Green verdite is paired with rose gold; blue-toned pietersite meets white gold and a diamond-set case; tiger’s eye is complemented by yellow gold. The different metals respond to the character of each stone, from the warmth of tiger’s eye to the more changeable, clouded appearance of pietersite. Natural markings become a large part of the design.

The construction is as interesting as the colour. Each pendant is sculpted from a single slice of ornamental stone, then hollowed to accommodate the movement before being closed into its pebble-shaped case. Piaget’s Manufacture quartz calibre 355P supplies the hours and minutes. An 80cm chain gives each version the length of a sautoir, allowing the watch to sit low and move with the wearer.
This freedom of placement is familiar territory for Piaget. Its 1969 21st Century Collection explored cuffs and long watch necklaces, bringing goldsmithing and ornamental-stone dials into a more expressive relationship with the body. During the 1970s, the house also made softly shaped Kimono pocket watches, another precedent for the rounded stone form of Swinging Pebbles.

The contemporary pieces keep that sense of possibility while concentrating it into a clear, compact object. Twisted links provide a supple counterpoint to the polished stone; the small circular dial leaves much of the material visible. Worn over a simple neckline, the pendant reads first through its shape and colour, with the indication of time discovered at closer range. It is an approach to a jewellery watch that feels particularly personal: a precious object whose movement is shared between its mechanism and the person wearing it.
