Noudar’s Enchanted Henna Traces the Body in Fine Jewellery

A fine chain travels from a ring across the back of the hand to the wrist. At the neckline, curved bands divide into tapering points. In Noudar’s Enchanted Henna, pattern takes its shape from the body: the hand, the wrist and the collarbone each become a different place for the same flowing line to unfold.

Designed by Noor Alfardan, the collection develops a familiar source for the Qatari jewellery house. Henna’s decorative vocabulary has long been part of Noudar’s identity. Here, Alfardan focuses on the way those patterns follow the wearer, making gesture and proportion central to the design.

A fine chain links the finger and wrist, extending the pattern across the back of the hand.

A line that follows the wearer

The campaign photographs make that relationship particularly clear. A hand ornament has a winding central motif and a light chain that continues towards the wrist; its outline emphasises the length of the hand. Elsewhere, a necklace frames an open area at the centre of the chest, its two sides ending in separate drops. Skin remains visible between the lines, giving the pattern room to breathe.

“This collection is about that intimate connection between jewellery and movement, between craft and the body it adorns,” Alfardan says. It is a useful description of the collection’s intention: to carry the visual flow of henna into pieces conceived around the woman wearing them.

Noudar specifies a material palette of 18K gold, diamonds, natural pearls and precious stones for Enchanted Henna. Across the designs, small points of light punctuate the open forms, while repeated curves create continuity between pieces of very different scale.

Open bands and curling ends give the cuffs a rhythm of line and space.

Pattern, repeated and reworked

The cuffs give this vocabulary its broadest expression. Parallel bands wrap around the wrist, leaving open spaces between them, while elongated ends turn away from the main form. The rings compress a related approach into lattice-like panels that extend along the fingers. Their presence comes from the relationship between the outline, the repeated detail and the skin beneath.

In the portraits, the jewellery is styled with spare black and white clothing. That restraint brings the construction of the pattern into focus: a broad cuff can be read at a glance, then examined as a sequence of smaller shapes. The hand pieces make the link to henna especially direct, placing ornament where a gesture can change how it is seen.

Lattice-like rings repeat the collection’s openwork pattern on a smaller scale.

Founded by Alfardan in 2012, Noudar draws on Islamic art, henna motifs and traditional Omani patterns. Enchanted Henna continues that work through a close study of line and the body. Its most persuasive detail is the space left between the ornament: a reminder that the wearer completes the design.
