Summer dressing asks a great deal of a garment. It must hold its shape while allowing movement, feel considered without becoming cumbersome, and respond to the heat as much as to the occasion. For Spring–Summer 2027, Hermès places that balance at the centre of its women’s ready-to-wear collection.
Presented in Paris, the collection takes its starting point from high summer and the relief of a passing breeze. The house’s press announcement describes silk in different weaves, transparency and leather worked with perforations, cut-outs and openings.

The interest lies in how the materials approach the same idea differently. Silk can suggest lightness through its weave and movement. Leather requires another kind of intervention, with openings changing the relationship between a surface and the skin beneath it.
Hermès connects that work to Katagami craftsmanship. Within the collection’s stated language, precision and openness belong together: intricate cutting becomes a way to introduce air and visual delicacy into a material more often associated with structure.

For a wardrobe-minded reading, the collection offers a useful point of attention. Lightness is something to look for in the construction and movement of a piece, as well as in its colour or how little fabric it uses. The most interesting summer clothes can reveal their character in those quieter details.
