“Emotional dressing” is one of the phrases Michael Rider sets down in his notes for CELINE Women Été 2027. The words give the collection an open-ended premise: clothes can offer composure, invite attention or carry the energy of a particular moment. Rider’s notes move freely between belonging, desire, memories of fashion and the pleasure of dressing up.
In the runway photographs, that proposition takes several forms. A sleeveless black dress falls below the knee in a long, relatively unbroken line. Its neckline is offset by delicate straps, while yellow-tinted glasses introduce a small, unexpected flash of colour. The black bag and pointed pumps keep the rest of the look spare.
A second look places more emphasis on construction. A dark jacket, buttoned high and drawn in at the waist with a narrow belt, gives the shoulders a decisive outline. The trousers taper towards the ankle, where the styling adds another point of definition. Even within a single colour, the changing proportions give the outfit its character.

Then comes red: a high-necked, cape-like upper layer over matching trousers, accompanied by round dark glasses. The fabric moves away from the body, making the breadth of the silhouette part of its effect. After the precision of the black tailoring, this look gives Rider’s interest in gesture a more expansive expression.

The selected looks share a clear sense of line, but leave room for different temperaments. Their accessories carry much of the individuality, while the clothes alternate between containment and release. Rider’s phrase “GESTURE & EASE” offers a useful way of reading them: the impact lies as much in how an outfit is put together as in any single piece.
