The Blue Illusions necklace gives Piaget’s Colours of Extraleganza its clearest expression. Graduated lines of blue sapphires, green tourmalines and diamonds draw the eye towards a cushion-cut Madagascan sapphire, an oval Paraíba tourmaline and a black opal. The arrangement is architectural, while the flashes within the opal bring a less predictable movement to its cool palette.

Piaget says the necklace required nearly 900 hours of work. Its principal sapphire weighs 8.52 carats, accompanied by a 3.30-carat Paraíba tourmaline. Around them, carefully arranged stones build a repeated geometric pattern, so that colour is experienced across the whole necklace rather than confined to its central gems. It is a particularly assured opening to a collection concerned with the relationships between materials.

Comprising 65 creations, Colours of Extraleganza completes a trilogy that began with Essence of Extraleganza for Piaget’s 150th anniversary in 2024 and continued with Shapes of Extraleganza in 2025. The final chapter draws again on the house’s creative world of the 1960s and 1970s, with gold treated as an active part of the palette.

Flamboyant Links takes that idea into warmer territory. Its substantial rose-gold ring wraps tiger’s eye around a 6.42-carat cushion-cut spessartite garnet. The stone’s dark and golden bands give the rounded silhouette depth, while the orange centre introduces a concentrated point of brightness. Sunset Prism is more expansive: a rose-gold sautoir combines fire opals, rubellites, spessartites and cold enamel, ending in a 30.32-carat Mexican fire opal beneath an 8.02-carat Brazilian rubellite.

At the other end of the collection’s spectrum, Gleaming Radiance sets 15 pear-shaped Mozambican rubies among white pearls and diamonds. Their saturated red drops create a measured rhythm along the lower edge of the white-gold necklace. Across these very different compositions, Piaget’s most persuasive move is its attention to how one colour changes another. The result gives exceptional gemstones room to be admired individually while making the design of the complete jewel equally compelling.
